Are you wondering if the Serena & Lily Outlet store is worth visiting? I’m a huge Serena & Lily fan and have visited the outlet store in Bluffton, South Carolina several times. In this post, I’m spilling all of the best tips and tricks for shopping at Serena & Lily!
The Serena & Lily Outlet store has stirred interest in grandmillennial and coastal home lovers. It’s a great place for major savings! They mix traditional design with modern, beachy textures that are irresistible. It’s one of those luxury retailers I’m always eyeing.
The pieces have that instantly recognizable look for coastal-chic furniture.
I’m here to share everything I know to help you on your shopping adventures for Serena & Lily products.
What is the Quality of the Items?
Shopping at an outlet store is like going on a treasure hunt. The Serena & Lily stores are no different! While you may stumble upon some like new pieces, some items are damaged or imperfect. It is important to be aware of this going into the shopping experience at a S&L outlet.
Usually, the slightly imperfect pieces will be priced as marked and sold “as is”. I would suggest looking each piece over before buying to see if you spot anything major that you don’t feel comfortable fixing yourself or trying to camouflage.
Like most outlets, it’s a great idea to go as often as you can if you are local to one. But even if you aren’t, it’s still fun to stop in and see the pieces in person especially since so many of them are available online.
It’s also helpful to get an idea for the design of certain pieces if you’re considering buying them online from the regular Serena & Lily website. I had been eyeing this console table but after seeing it at the outlet in a different color I decided it may not be the best fit for my space.
How Much of a Discount is Found at the Outlet Store?
On average, prices are 50% off retail (what’s listed on the website) OR MORE if there is a special outlet sale. For example, there was an extra 25% off rugs and decorative pillows at the Bluffton, SC location during the first week of August 2024 and an extra 40% off rugs, beds, indoor/outdoor coffee tables, and lighting over Labor Day Weekend 2024.
Special sales vary by location and are subject to change at any time. It’s important to note that sometimes the larger the discount may mean there is a flaw or imperfection. You can score some super low-priced items if you are willing to fix some pieces up yourself or if you know of a way to conceal the flaw.
The Driftway coffee tables (regular $1498) were on sale for $449 during the Labor Day 2024 outlet sale.
Can I Return Outlet Items?
Unfortunately, no. Everything is final sale at the Serena & Lily Outlet stores.
Also, whether or not they will hold items varies by location. Plan to have to take items home the same day you purchase.
What Type of Items Can I Find?
Anything you would find on the Serena & Lily website you could find at the outlet! From furniture to home decor pieces, they truly have a wide variety. I’ve seen plush bedding, duvet covers, wallpaper swatches, side tables, bath goods, large furniture, tiny decorations, bedroom furniture, outdoor furniture, and so many other top markdowns.
I do have some personal favorites to look for at the outlet that I feel are the best finds.
In my opinion, bedding and pillow covers are the best deals. Plus, they are easy to travel home with if you aren’t local. The bedding prices are standard and determined by size and style. Whether you are looking for a twin duvet, queen sheet, or king quilt will all play a factor in pricing.
The pillow cover prices are usually anywhere between $30-$50 depending on the size, which is a great deal.
I’m also a fan of the wallpaper, however, it has gone up in price which is a bummer. The wallpaper used to be a really good deal at $39/roll but is now $79/roll for prints (non-grasscloth). It’s still worth looking at though if you are in the market.
I purchased my wallpaper at this price from a personal shopper in California a few years ago. I do not know much about personal shopping, but if you know someone local or have someone you trust to buy and ship from the outlet for you, that is an option as well!
Sometimes the items they get are discontinued and no longer available online, but most of the items are still online at regular retail price. So, you can look online to get comparisons and see how much of a deal you are getting!
Where Does Serena and Lily Get Their Furniture?

Can I Shop at the Outlet Online?
No, the outlet is strictly an in-store experience. However, I have several tips for obtaining similar-priced Serena & Lily finds online. There are a lot of ways to still get great deals online.
For starters, they always have an online clearance section or online sale going on so you can still shop Serena and Lily markdowns even if you aren’t close to an outlet store. Plus, you shouldn’t have to worry about imperfections or damage to the pieces like you may at the outlet store.
Serena & Lily also has online warehouse sales throughout the year. You can find these sales especially during or around major holidays. Sometimes their online sales are the same as or close to outlet pricing!
These warehouse sales usually offer an extra percentage off clearance and free shipping so they are comparable to the outlet prices.
You can also get on Serena & Lily’s e-mail list to get notified when sales are happening, especially for those best-selling items.
In addition, they usually have a new sitewide sale outside of the clearance section every week or two – like right now they have 20% off upholstery and special pricing on bath items.
The online clearance deals are updated randomly so it’s always a good idea to check and see what new markdowns you may be able to find that aren’t always advertised! I often see some unbeatable prices.
In fact, I purchased my counter stools online during one of their online sales a few years ago for 20% off with free shipping, and while they were a splurge they have held up so well and are easy to clean.
A few favorites I sourced from the current selection of items in the clearance tab on the Serena & Lily website include this stunning dining room table, this lamp for your home office, and this armchair you could use in a sunroom.
My Personal Experience Shopping In Person at the Serena & Lily Outlet
Alright, now let’s talk about my experiences visiting the Bluffton, SC Serena & Lily outlet store! If you’ve got a trip to Hilton Head coming up on the east coast this is the perfect pit stop for coastal-inspired pieces without the hefty price tag.
The Bluffton, SC location is located at 1254 Fording Island Road, Suite 175 in the Tanger Outlets #1. This Tanger Outlets location has 2 shopping centers right down the road from each other, so make sure you are at the right location to shop the Serena and Lily outlet store.
I have visited this location 7-8 times over the last few years. They moved locations mid 2023 (right next door to their previous location) and the space is about double the size, so I have been much more impressed with the inventory and selection over the last year than when they first opened.
Hours are subject to change, but currently they are open Tuesday – Saturday 10AM-6PM and Sunday 11AM-6PM (hours and days vary at other locations). The outlet stores do not have a phone number, but they do have an Instagram page where they occasionally post inventory updates, information on sales, and changes to hours for all 5 locations.
From talking with the employees originally, it sounded like they used to get shipments in on Tuesday and Thursday so the best days to shop were Wednesday and Friday. Now, they started opening on Tuesday, so it appears they must be getting shipments in on Mondays based on the amount of inventory I saw on a Tuesday afternoon.
I would talk with the staff of your local Serena & Lily outlet (if you have one) to determine when they might have new arrivals!

Honestly, I have only made a few smaller purchases at the outlet because I am not local and mainly just like to go and look and provide updates! Plus transporting large pieces of furniture is a bit difficult since it’s a far drive for me.
