Creating a functional, stylish, and comfortable home office desk setup can greatly improve productivity and mood throughout the workday. In this post, I’m sharing my top tips for setting up a desk space that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Whether you’re working from home permanently or need a space to focus occasionally, having the right tools and accessories at your desk can help streamline your day and keep you on task.
If you’ve been looking for minimal desk setups, this post is for you!

From tech essentials like a 3-in-1 charging station to small touches like throw pillows that add comfort and personality, these items are not just about looks. They will also make your workspace more efficient!
After spending the last few recent years doing remote work at my desk anywhere from 6-8 hours a day, I have a good idea of what has helped me become the most efficient and productive. I have a smaller home office space with a small desk and only 2 drawers, so these are things that work for me and may help you if you also have a small home office space!
Choosing the Right Desk
I love classic coastal decor, so I tried to incorporate this style by choosing a desk, desk chair, and decor that would flow with the rest of my living room. Since I have a small area, I needed to pick a very simplistic desk. Investing in a good desk is an important step when setting up your home office.
If you think standing more will help you be productive, try a standing desk in your work setup!

Since I don’t have one inside this desk, I have a separate file box to keep track of medical documents, etc. I also really like the look of this filing cabinet if you have room for it in your home office!
If you have space, pair a bookshelf beside your desk. I love the look of this bookshelf for additional storage and decor.
Hogan Framed Scalloped Decorative Wall Pinboard
I don’t have anything above my desk yet and I am eyeing this pinboard because it can be used both decoratively and functionally. It’s also a great way to make use of some extra space!

Tips for an Effective Home Office Setup
Let’s get into the essentials that can help you make your home office into a place where you can truly get things done. This is the best home office setup! Hopefully, you find some helpful tips for your individual needs.
1. 3-in-1 Charging Station
A 3-in-1 charging station is a must-have for keeping all your devices powered up without cluttering your desk. With this handy gadget, you can charge your phone, smartwatch, and AirPods (noise-canceling headphones) all in one place.

It helps me stay organized by cutting down on the number of cords and adapters scattered around my home desk.
2. Comfortable Desk Chair
Your desk chair is one of the most important parts of your home office. It’s essential to choose a chair that provides good support for your back. After all, you’ll probably be sitting at it for so much time each day.

A comfortable chair can help reduce strain and keep you focused on your work for longer periods without discomfort! I’m all about promoting good posture.
3. Pillows and Blankets for Comfort
Adding a soft pillow or cozy blanket to your office chair can make working for extended periods more pleasant. They help create a comfortable workspace you’ll enjoy.

4. Cute Coasters
Cute coasters aren’t just for protecting your desk from coffee stains. They can also add a fun pop of color or pattern to your home workspace.

They’re a simple way to personalize your setup while keeping it functional. Plus, having a designated spot for your drink can help you drink more water throughout the day.
5. Stylish Desk Accessories
Stylish desk accessories like mouse pads, weekly planners, sticky notes, personalized stationery sets, etc. can make your workspace feel more put together.

Choose items that match your style! They make your desk look nicer and keep everything in its place.
BLUE STAPLER
Who said office supplies have to be boring? I love the color of this stapler!

6. Cordless Lamp
A cordless lamp is a great option for adding extra light to your work desk without worrying about where to plug it in. It’s portable, so you can move it around as needed, which I love. Finish it off with an adorable scalloped lampshade cover!
Having a rechargeable desk lamp has been a life saver for me so that I don’t have any more cords than I need to with my computer and charging station.
7. Desktop Computers
If you work from home the majority of the time, investing in a desktop computer can make a big difference. I tried using only my laptop for a while, and it didn’t last. Upgrading to a desktop fills the desk up more and the larger screen is so nice.
If you are going to stick with a laptop, using a laptop stand is the best way to get the desktop feel.

I’m a big fan of Apple products and the Apple iMac has been worth the splurge. This computer comes with a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse (SO much better than a traditional mouse) which is fantastic for a cord free work environment. Plus, the large screen can’t be compared to even the best laptops. It’s so nice!
8. Weekly Desk Pad
A weekly desk pad is perfect for jotting down important tasks, reminders, and deadlines. It keeps everything right in front of you in your work area which is so handy.
One thing that has helped me keep my desk organized and tasks completed timely is leaving anything that needs immediate attention (like bills) on my desk next to my weekly deskpad. I don’t like the clutter and this way I don’t forget to address them!
9. Work Near Windows
You don’t have to have a designated room for your home office! Anywhere you have available space is great. Getting my workspace somewhere near larger windows with natural light like in the dining room, living room, or kitchen has improved my productivity (even if it’s a small space!).
My home office is currently stationed in the corner of my open concept living room, and I like working here better than in the guest room we set aside for my office.
While that space is a work in progress and may eventually become my home office again, I love my current setup in our living room near all of the open windows and easy access to the rest of the house.
10. Drawer Organizers
Since there are only two drawers inside my desk, I have to be very selective about what I keep in them.
On the right side, I keep my most used items like sticky notes, pens, and notepads for quick access. On the left side, I keep things I don’t need as often but still use regularly such as charging cords, envelopes, recent receipts, and tags.
Plastic Stackable Office Desk Drawer Organizers
Drawer organizers are essential for keeping small office supplies in order. Instead of rummaging through a messy drawer, these organizers help you easily find what you need.

Conclusion
A well organized and thoughtfully designed home office space can really enhance your workday experience. By prioritizing comfort and efficiency with items like a supportive desk chair, a cordless lamp, and drawer organizers, you’ll find that staying focused and productive becomes much easier!
Incorporating elements like a weekly desk pad or stylish accessories also helps create an overall design that feels uniquely yours. With just a few adjustments, your desk setup can be styled into a workspace where you feel comfortable and motivated every day.
